3D garment has complex and flexible shape. In order to obtain realistic texture mapping results with various garment models, an efficient and simple mesh parameterization method is presented in this paper. The key idea in this work is to partition the garment model using geometrical feature line that is composed of several mesh edges and to parameterize the mesh facet after partitioning. We achieve this by first developing a direct geometrical measurement method for discovering the structural lines of garment model.
Next we use Shortest-Path method to formulate the cutting line and partition the mesh surface into facets. Then, we roughly parameterize the partitioned mesh parts using modified uniform area method. The experiments show that our method captures distinctive mapping effects and obtains more shape-preserving results than other state-of-the-art approaches.
