Image segmentation divides the image into different regions. Accurate segmentation of objects of interest in an image gently facilitates further analysis of the objects. There are three compound imagesegmentation methods for compound image compression which are object based, layer based and block based segmentation.
This paper discusses about six segmentation methods which are object based, block based, layer based, Hybrid Model1(Block + Layer),Hybrid Model2(Layer + Object) and Hybrid Model3(Block + Object). In this paper two hybrid models are proposed for segmenting compound images. The proposed hybrid models results are compared with the existing segmentationmethods.
